What happended to Germany? Towards non-Europe

In this event, participants will have the opportunity to once again engage with Lucio Caracciolo on the developments in geopolitics that are currently shaping a new global order.

In particular, the discussion will cover how the war in Ukraine, the outbreak of conflict between Israel and Palestine, and the tensions between the United States and China have highlighted the significant difficulties faced by Germany, which has been too cautious and indecisive in its foreign policy, and internally shaken by the support garnered by new political movements far from the center.

Participants will then explore how Germany's crisis fits into the broader European context, and how this risks creating serious fractures within the European Union, already threatened by the presence of Putin (and those who wish to emulate him).
Participants will gain a deeper understanding of:

  • the factors contributing to Germany's crisis and its future prospects
  • why Germany's difficulties risk disuniting the European Union
  • the role of Italy in the context of an increasingly weakened Europe.
