Tech war: opportunities for Italy and Europe in global competition

In the race for supremacy among superpowers, Italy is finding a new space to reposition and redefine national interests within the framework of a Europe that is increasingly careful to assert and protect its sovereignty (technological and not) in the global context.

The alleged decline of the United States and the economic and military challenges launched by other actors such as China and Russia, make it clear that the confrontation for world hegemony is increasingly based on technological primacy.

The role of Europe in this new global challenge, the contribution of Italy to the construction of a new multilateral system and the consequent opportunities for the recovery of the country, will be at the center of the meeting with Arturo Varvelli, leading geopolitical analyst and Director of the Rome office of European Council on Foreign Relations. Through the dialogue with him, the participants will have a better understanding of the complexities of the global chessboard and the role that Italy can play in the re-establishment of international balances.

In particular, participants will have the opportunity to discuss:

  • the current Tech war between China and the United States: from the distortion of production chains to the regionalization of globalization
  • renewed multilateralism? The post-covid world, international institutions and global discussion forums
  • European technological sovereignty: chimera or realistic objective? US-EU relationship and technological challenges
  • Italy and the new centrality of the Mediterranean. Digital challenge, transport and energy.
