Active listening: listen in the right way to create constructive dialogues

Centro Svizzero Via Palestro, 2 - 20121 MILANO

Listening actively is a complex skill. Active listening means the ability to listen to the interlocutor in an empathic and constructive way. In other words, it is not only important to listen to the other, but also, and most importantly, with what approach you do it. It is necessary to be open, free from judgements and preconceptions, only in this way can interpersonal relationships be fostered and a serene and constructive atmosphere created, in the workplace as well as in private life.

How to modify your listening approach to make it "active"? How to create a constructive dialogue, both in the company and in the private sector?

During this meeting, thanks to professionals from the world of music and sport, we will focus on the skills at the base of active listening, in order to learn to exercise them and improve relationships and dialogue.

  • Cinzia Pennesi, musician and conductor, through orchestral metaphors and practical exercises, will start from the importance of the role of silence to listen to themselves and change their approach to listening, thus placing themselves more open to others. Moreover, thanks to the explanation of the musical concept of dissonant harmony, it will highlight how seemingly opposite views and positions are instead a wealth to be openly shared to create a harmonious atmosphere and nurture confidence that, in the orchestra as in the company, is at the basis of the reports
  • Stefano Massini, internationally renowned writer, will accompany us in a deep reflection on the meaning of listening, starting from the analysis of our relationship with words and language. Through one of his unmistakable and impressive monologues, he will focus on our way of relating to listening today, highlighting the personal and social implications and the complexities that lie behind every type of relationship, personal or professional.
  • Stefano Massari, Mental coach of the tennis champion Matteo Berrettini, will focus on listening to his state of mind as the first fundamental step to understand how our way of listening will be influenced. Through hints and stories related to his profession, he will then give suggestions and practical exercises to train his ability to listen in order to improve the understanding of the other and always create a positive and constructive dialogue with his interlocutor.
