Energy, geopolitics, climate: what scenarios for the energy transition?

Colacem Località Ghigiano - 06024 GUBBIO (PG)

Recent geopolitical events in Ukraine are disrupting companies' strategies. Indeed, there is a risk that energy supply problems will not only lead to a review of short-term plans but may also affect longer-term choices related to the energy transition.

How can we continue to pursue the energy transition even at such a delicate time? What geopolitical changes can further hinder a "green" change? What solutions can companies implement?

In this meeting, participants will have the opportunity to discuss with Simone Tagliapietra, international expert on energy, environmental and climate policies. Tagliapietra will hypothesize different local and global scenarios on the geopolitics of energy, also as a result of recent geopolitical imbalances, and how these can impact business strategies, while trying, at the same time, To identify ways out of a very complicated situation.

In particular, he will focus on:

  • the major trends in the world and European energy market, with a focus on the effects for Italy
  • the European Union’s climate strategy and its economic and social implications
  • The industrial dimension of the energy transition: risks and opportunities for the most energy-intensive sectors.

Speaker

Simone Tagliapietra

Professor of Energy and Climate Policies, Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, and Johns Hopkins University
