Open strategy. Attracting new ideas from outside to anticipate change and create better strategies

Royal Hotel Carlton Via Montebello, 8 - 40121 BOLOGNA

In transformative times, companies are called to anticipate, or at least ride, the changes underway by continually seeking new solutions. However, it is not always possible to find them within the company, even if you change leaders or decision makers. A new way to go can be to adopt an open strategy, that is, to get the decision-making process out of the CDA rooms, opening it outwards to gather ideas and solutions from all the actors touched by the company: employees, customers, suppliers, experts, entrepreneurs and even competitors. A disruptive approach with great potential but not easy to implement.

What are the advantages of an open strategy? How to understand if you are ready to open up and how to prepare? Who has already done so and with what results?

In this meeting, organized in collaboration with Egea, Christian Stadler, expert in "open" innovation and author of Open Strategy. By governing the disruptive change out of the button room (Egea, 2022), participants will be able to delve deeper into the benefits and challenges of adopting the open strategy and some of the exemplary cases that have made it successful on a global scale. The meeting will be an opportunity for discussion to gather from Stadler the practical tools of each phase of the strategic process, from the idea to the implementation.
In particular, he will talk about:

  • characteristics, risks and opportunities of the Open Strategy
  • how to prepare for an open strategy, minimising risks and maximising benefits
  • examples and success stories
