Solving financial problems by avoiding bias and cognitive obstacles

Fondazione Cariperugia - Palazzo Baldeschi Corso Pietro Vannucci, 47 - 06121 PERUGIA

Unexpected events such as a conflict at the gates of Europe and a global pandemic are short-term shocks that can, however, impact long-term investment choices. In a context of uncertainty, risk tends to decrease, sometimes leading to sub-option choices.

What impact do cognitive biases have on financial choices? Is it possible to overcome them? And what can we learn from the strategies of the best-known investors of our century?

With Riccardo Viale, Full Professor of Behavioural Sciences and Cognitive Economics at the University of Milano Bicocca, participants will have the opportunity to look, with the lens of behavioral psychology, at the most frequent cognitive obstacles in the resolution of financial problems, so as to learn to recognize, avoid or prevent them, to make better financial choices.

Participants will have the opportunity to deepen the following themes:

  • Getting out of the "bounded rationality": understanding and avoiding "being satisfied" in uncertain conditions
  • how to understand when to go against the current
  • Applied behavioral finance: the example of Buffet and large investors.
