Artemisia Gentileschi: visit to the exhibition at the Palazzo Ducale

Palazzo Ducale Piazza Matteotti, 9 - 16123 GENOVA

The exhibition on Artemisia Gentileschi at the Palazzo Ducale in Genoa celebrates the life and work of the first woman admitted to an art academy and who became a world-renowned artist, not only for her works but also for the events of her life.

Before visiting the exhibition, there will be a valuable ad hoc introduction personally provided by Anna Orlando, co-curator of the exhibition and art historian. This unique moment will highlight known and lesser-known aspects of the extraordinary figure of Artemisia Gentileschi. Indeed, the exhibition explores not only the talent but also the determination of the painter to respond with her art to the violence and abuse she suffered, until she emerged as an icon in Baroque art.

This exhibition, curated by Costantino D'Orazio, presents more than 50 paintings from across Europe, offering a compelling and accurate portrait of Artemisia Gentileschi's personality. A unique opportunity to explore the art and extraordinary figure of this visionary painter.

Please note, some audiovisual content of the exhibition may disturb the sensibilities of participants.
