In recent years, global supply chains have suffered and absorbed shocks that were inconceivable just a few years ago. A challenge that will also recur in the future given the now consolidated instability of the socio-political context at a global level but, above all, due to the structural needs dictated by the ecological transition which will place great stress on the materials market.
Which shocks are and will be transitory and which will become structural? How do you rethink your sourcing and manufacturing strategies in a fragmented world? How are the main global players moving?
 
This meeting will offer participants the opportunity to reflect on the prospects of global value chains and their strategies related to them. They will be able to do this thanks to the discussion with Carlos Cordon, an IMD professor who is an expert in strategy and an attentive analyst of what is happening (and will likely happen) both within companies and in the global context in which they operate. In particular, we will explore:
 

• the new competition for raw materials: absorbing shocks and understanding structural changes
• the need for a new focus: from internal (costs, suppliers) to external (economic shocks, geopolitical crises, changes
• changing strategy in a de-globalizing world: the example of Assa-Abloy and Wärtsilä.
