How is the Italian Economy Performing? External Pressures, Structural Weaknesses, and Future Challenges

Hotel Là di Moret Viale Tricesimo, 276 - 33100 UDINE

2024 did not start positively for the Italian economy. Despite a decrease in the inflation rate, the country's system struggles to grow, recording a significantly lower performance than the EU average. In addition to the structural problems in Italy, the condition of uncertainty in the international scenario must be added, exacerbated by the outbreak of new conflicts in areas of strategic interest for our country.
What measures can be taken to prepare our economic system to navigate through this phase of "poly-crisis"? What scenario is unfolding for the European and Italian economies in the years to come? Is it possible to think of long-term strategies to revitalize growth?
The goal of this meeting is to offer participants the opportunity to reflect on the state of health of the Italian economy in a period marked by increasingly intertwined challenges. To do this, they will have the opportunity to engage with economist Andrea Boitani, who will share his reflections on the Italian economy, especially regarding the many challenges that lie ahead. In particular, these topics will be addressed:

  • A world in crisis: perspectives and challenges for the Italian economic system
  • European economic measures in the election year
  • Necessary reforms to boost Italy.

Speaker

Andrea Boitani

Professor of Macroeconomics and Monetary Economics, Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Milan
