War, Elections, and Growing Tensions: Geopolitical Perspectives for the Coming Months

NH COLLECTION ROMA CENTRO Via dei Gracchi, 324 - 00192 ROMA

We are living in an increasingly conflict-ridden reality; open conflicts persist in many regions, while in others, the simmering tension is ready to surface. Ancient grievances and modern interests challenge the status quo, and upcoming elections worldwide, particularly in the USA and Europe, have the potential to alter already precarious balances. The ongoing conflict in Ukraine appears to be mired in a stalemate, while the Middle East conflict is at risk of escalation. In the Pacific, the United States and China face the potential of an increasingly close confrontation over Taiwan.

What can we expect from the upcoming European and American elections? How will they influence Europe and the ongoing conflicts? How likely is a conflict between the United States and China over Taiwan?

In this meeting, it will be possible to discuss these and other crucial questions for the international chessboard with leading Italian and global experts: Elisabeth Braw, Senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, Gilles Gressani, Founder and Director of the digital magazine "Le Grand Continent", and Nathalie Tocci, Director of the Istituto Affari Internazionali.

In particular, the following topics will be examined:

  • the end of globalization: the future of the global economy
  • wars and growing tensions: challenges and prospects for Europe and the United States
  • the future of Europe between security and regional enlargement.
