Automotive 2035: What Future for the European Industry?

Villa Canton Via Giorgio Paglia, 18 - 24069 TRESCORE BALNEARIO (BG)

The European Union aims to cease the production and sale of polluting vehicles by 2035, alongside with the goal of achieving "zero emissions." This decision is part of the broader framework of the so-called green transition that is already impacting the entire industry on the continent.

What are the changes and challenges that the energy transition poses for the European automotive sector? How is the European automotive industry responding to the challenge posed by Chinese electric vehicle giants? What are the growth opportunities for European companies?

Participants will have the opportunity to discuss these and other topics with Chengyi Lin, Professor of Strategy at INSEAD and an expert in the automotive industry at both European and global levels, and with Marco Saltalamacchia, CEO of Gruppo Koelliker. In particular, the following points will be addressed:

  • how will the automotive market change: from the new role of the car to infrastructural challenges, both public and private
  • competition in electric vehicles: navigating a world of American giants (Tesla) and Chinese (BYD and Geely) between conflict and partnerships
  • are European companies doing enough? Can the challenge be turned into a competitive advantage?
