Dealing with a Changing World: The International Landscape and Business Strategies to Address Tensions and Uncertainty (with Networking Lunch)

Villa Quaranta Tommasi Wine Hotel & SPA Via Ospedaletto, 57 - 37026 PESCANTINA (VR)

This meeting will provide the participants with the opportunity to delve into the current state and future developments of the global order within which their businesses must operate. The series of crises in recent years seems to have plunged liberal Western nations into a state of permanent distrust and anxiety, with obvious repercussions for businesses that need to adapt to constant upheavals.
On a geopolitical level, Russia's invasion of Ukraine, new tensions in the Middle East, and concerns about Chinese actions in Taiwan appear to challenge democracies more than autocracies, which seem to be growing stronger. But perhaps this is not entirely the case: this new reality consists of well-defined "macro" trends that seem to allow for long-term strategies, though they often produce unpredictable "micro" consequences in the short term.
This instability can highlight the true value not only of democracies but also of companies that are more adaptable, open-minded, and cooperative, in contrast to the rigid, planning-obsessed nature of authoritarian systems.
Observing and recognizing ongoing trends is just one of the key elements for navigating the future successfully; the other, increasingly crucial, is the ability to respond to external shocks effectively and quickly. This principle applies both at the national level and within individual companies.
In particular, by the end of the meeting, participants will have:

  • a clearer understanding of the global geopolitical context and the challenges facing Europe, America, and the Middle East
  • reflected on the strengths and limitations of autocracies and democracies, and how the latter can shine in the increasingly turbulent current context
  • considered how companies can address this period of instability by rethinking their short-term and long-term strategies.
