The Palazzo Ducale of Urbino, one of the most significant architectural achievements of the Renaissance and home to the National Gallery of the Marche, stands as the result of a strategic vision translated into an integrated project, shaped by method, planning, and structural coherence.

Within this framework, the programme will focus on the Volponi Collection, presented as a case study of a project developed through selective decision-making, expertise, and discipline. Paolo Volponi, a writer and public intellectual, assembled over time a small yet exceptionally high-quality collection, formed through a structured decision process and close dialogue with leading Italian art historians.

The visit will examine the transition from private collection to public heritage through Volponi’s donation to the Gallery and its subsequent expansion by his heirs, including important early seventeenth-century works by artists such as Guercino and Guido Reni. This analysis will highlight key aspects related to decision quality, selective allocation of resources, and project coherence, providing a relevant perspective on governance and strategic processes also applicable to the business context.
