Rethinking capitalism: towards a more sustainable and inclusive global economy

The meeting will be available only in Italian

The pandemic has highlighted a number of critical issues in our economic system and, today, the question arises as to whether this can and should be reconsidered. Is capitalism still able to provide answers to the crucial problems of society, including health, social inequalities, the digital divide and, even more clearly, the environmental crisis?
According to Mariana Mazzucato, one of the world’s most respected economists and attentive observer of the costs/benefits of our economic model, we can only respond to these problems if we look back at capitalism, making it more inclusive, sustainable and driven by that sense of innovation that is able to concretely address the problems of our time.

Quoting her latest book "Mission Economy: A Moonshot Guide to Changing Capitalism" hers is - an urgent call to mobilize our resources with the same level of audacity and innovation that guided the landing on the Moon -. This implies changing the tools and culture of governments, create new business governance indicators and ensure that companies, governments and civil society unite towards common goals.
She will discuss the following topics:

  • "false myths" that prevent progress;
  • the most urgent challenges we have to face;
  • the vision of public/private partnerships oriented to a common mission.
