Geopolitics of the supply chain: challenges and opportunities for businesses

In recent years, geopolitical tensions, energy crises, trade wars, and technological transformations have placed global value chains under severe pressure, exposing their vulnerability and strategic interdependence. The growing international instability has accelerated a process of supply chain reconfiguration, fueling global competition for control over production and technology networks.

The aim of this session is to explore ongoing geopolitical transformations and understand their economic and strategic implications for value chains and corporate strategies. Leading the discussion will be Alessandro Aresu, a leading analyst in economic geopolitics and strategic advisor to Italian institutions.

Key themes to be explored include:
- the redesign of value chains between security and strategic autonomy: new global balances, the role of major powers in industrial supply chains, and the evolution of the global production map.
- Europe in the new scenario: the challenges European production systems face in positioning themselves in a world marked by economic conflicts and growing competition for supply chain control.
- strategic priorities to consider: technology, energy independence, critical materials, economic intelligence, and sustainability.
